What “The Shop” Is All About

When I moved back to Pennsylvania six and a half years ago, I also relocated my furniture refinishing business. Although I had all of my experience and processes, I suddenly found myself starting over and building my reputation and clientele from scratch. In the process of networking and getting to know people in the community, I met amazing artisans who have taken their craft to an expert level.

As COVID threw a wrench in everyone’s lives, I decided to reinvent how I did business. I wanted to create a website to sell my products but was so inspired by other local artisans that I wanted to open the site up for others to sell their creations as well. What I ended up creating is essentially “Etsy meets farmer’s market”.  All of the vendors are local, and I have personally tried each vendor’s products and experienced their passion and customer service. As a result, our customers are assured that they are purchasing from the best of the best.

The shop is built around the concept of Hygge, which is a Danish lifestyle defined as:

An atmosphere of coziness, comfort, and contentment. To relax, enjoy the simple pleasures in life, share time with loved ones, and be in the moment. Best enjoyed with delicious food, drinks, candles & blankets.

As a direct result of the current state of the world, I noticed that people are looking for comfort in the small, simple things in life. A beautiful cup of tea, a lovely writing desk, or getting lost in a gorgeous piece of art. We are spending more time than ever at home, and the products we sell at The Shop all support the simple pleasures of home.

We are constantly growing and adding carefully vetted local vendors. By providing a centralized place for local artisans to market their products, we reward our customers with some of the finest products our area has to offer.

Thank you for reading our story.

Warmly,

Amy
